Police have recovered the body of a madrasa security guard from a mango orchard three days after he went missing in Badarganj Upazila, Rangpur. The body was retrieved on Sunday (September 6) night from an orchard in the Uttar Baochandi area of Kutubpur within the upazila. The deceased, Golam Rabbani, was the son of Hasan Ali from Rajarampur Paitkarpara village in Madhupur Union and worked as a guard at a local madrasa.

Relatives said Golam Rabbani went missing from his workplace on Friday (September 4) evening. Family members tried repeatedly to reach him, but his mobile phone was switched off, and searches in various places yielded no leads. Three days later, on Sunday evening, locals spotted the body lying in a mango grove adjacent to Feskipara in Uttar Baochandi and alerted the police, who subsequently arrived and recovered the remains.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Wahab of Badarganj Police Station, who prepared the inquest report, stated that no injury marks could be clearly identified as the body had decomposed. Following the inquest, the remains were sent to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. He added that the deceased was wearing black trousers and a sky-blue patterned panjabi.

The victim's cousin, Helal Uddin, noted that Golam Rabbani was a calm person with no known enmities. However, his brother-in-law, Milon Mia, alleged that the family suspects foul play and urged authorities to investigate whether the incident was linked to his workplace. Badarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Zahid Sarkar stated that no case has been filed yet, though the filing process is underway, with police adding that the actual cause of death will be determined once the autopsy report is received.
