In the third round of the National Cricket League (NCL), Khulna secured a thrilling 10-run victory over Chattogram, thanks to a stunning debut performance by 17-year-old left-arm spinner Rakib Howlader.
Coming in as a concussion substitute for Samiur Basher—who was struck on the head during the second innings—Rakib claimed five wickets to bowl Chattogram out for 264 as they chased a target of 274. Despite never having played in major leagues prior, Khulna coach Tushar Imran insisted on including him in the squad.
In other NCL matches, defending champions Rangpur fell short by 37 runs against Sylhet following a 9-wicket bowling haul by Nasum Ahmed and Naim Ahmed, while Rajshahi claimed their first win of the season by defeating Barishal by eight wickets.
