The Bangladesh national cricket team faces a third-place playoff match against Sri Lanka to secure an Asian Games bronze medal after falling short of their gold-medal target with a semi-final loss to Pakistan.
Prior to departing for the tournament in Japan, Head Coach Mohammad Salahuddin and Captain Litton Das publicly expressed ambitions to win gold and bring top honors to Bangladesh. After advancing to the semi-finals without playing their quarter-final fixture due to rain, Bangladesh faced a second-tier Pakistani squad at Nagoya's Nishin Korogi Sports Park. Batting first on a slow pitch, Bangladesh posted 111 runs in 13 overs. However, Pakistan chased down the 112-run target with six wickets and 9 balls to spare, aided by a difficult bowling performance from veteran pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who conceded 41 runs across two overs. Bangladesh will now attempt to secure a podium finish in the bronze medal match scheduled against Sri Lanka on October 3, 2026.
