Australian Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Hobart Hurricanes has officially re-signed Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rishad Hossain for the upcoming 16th season of the tournament, scheduled to commence on December 12, 2026.

The announcement, published on the official Hobart Hurricanes website, marks the return of the team's top bowler from last season. In his maiden BBL appearance, Rishad finished as the Hurricanes' leading wicket-taker, claiming 15 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 20.86 and an economy rate of 7.82, with best bowling figures of 3/26. His stellar adaptiveness to Australian conditions earned him the Hurricanes BBL Player of the Year award.

Salliann Beams, General Manager of High Performance at Hobart Hurricanes, revealed that Rishad’s strong desire to return to Hobart played a major role in securing the deal. The Hurricanes management emphasized that possessing two world-class leg-spinners in Rishad Hossain and Australian star Adam Zampa will provide unprecedented tactical flexibility in the middle overs depending on pitch conditions and match situations.
