Brazilian football legends Ronaldo Nazário and Roberto Carlos have overseen an extraordinary turnaround at Inter de Limeira, as the 112-year-old São Paulo-based club secured promotion to the Brazilian second tier (Série B) for the first time in 35 years.

The landmark achievement comes just weeks after an investor group led by Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos purchased an 80% controlling stake in the club in September. Following a dramatic final round of fixtures in Campeonato Brasileiro Série C's Group B, Inter de Limeira sealed their promotion despite a 2-0 defeat to group winners Ferroviária, edging out rival contenders Brusque on goals scored after Brusque stumbled to a draw in their final match.

Celebrating the historic feat, the club's official Instagram posted: "The Lion has awakened! Inter de Limeira is in Série B! Cry, cheer, and embrace everyone who suffered and believed in us. Our dream has come true." Ronaldo Nazário joined in the celebrations by sharing the official announcement on his Instagram story with a brief message: "Well done," accompanied by clapping emojis.
