Virat Kohli Closes In on Top ODI Ranking Spot as Tom Banton Soars 333 Places in ICC Rankings
Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav register significant leaps in the latest ICC Men's ODI Rankings following decisive international performances.

India star batter Virat Kohli has surged to the second spot in the ICC Men's ODI Batting Rankings, narrowing the gap on top-ranked teammate Shubman Gill following his record-extending 55th ODI century against the West Indies.

Kohli’s unbeaten 139 off 88 balls in the series opener elevated his rating points to 796, placing him directly behind Gill (816 points), while New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell (794) and India’s Rohit Sharma (719) occupy the third and fourth positions. The rankings update followed a historic day featuring six ODI centuries across international fixtures, including tons by Temba Bavuma, David Miller, Justin Greaves, and England’s Tom Banton. Banton made a massive leap of 333 places to reach 83rd after scoring 126 off 105 balls, while Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis rose to a career-best seventh position after scoring 121 against England. In the bowling rankings, South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj climbed three places to third following strong performances against Australia, while Indian wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav jumped four spots to fifth after taking 4 for 40 on his ODI return. Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood re-entered the top 10, jumping five places to tenth.
