Power Grid Bangladesh PLC has commissioned the test energization of the newly constructed 96.891 km Kaliakair–Mymensingh (Shambhuganj) 400 kV double circuit transmission line today, Thursday (October 15, 2026).
According to an official press notification signed by Chief Engineer and Project Director Engr. Md. Alamgir Hossain under the Power Grid Network Strengthening Project, the high-voltage transmission line was energized starting at 12:00 PM today. The infrastructure links the established Kaliakair 400/230/132 kV Grid Substation with the newly erected Shambhuganj 400/132/33 kV Grid Substation in Mymensingh, designed to substantially improve grid voltage stability, transmission capacity, and power reliability across Greater Mymensingh and the central industrial belt.
The 96.891-kilometer transmission corridor crosses nine upazilas across three key districts: Kaliakair and Sreepur in Gazipur; Mirzapur and Sakhipur in Tangail; and Bhaluka, Trishal, Mymensingh Sadar, Ishwarganj, and Gauripur in Mymensingh. Emphasizing that the high-voltage infrastructure will remain continuously energized, Power Grid Bangladesh issued a public safety advisory warning residents along the route against hazardous activities—including climbing transmission towers, tying cattle or livestock to tower legs, hanging clothes, or planting bamboo and tall trees directly underneath or adjacent to the power lines.
