Bearing the theme "One Lakh Trees in a Day, Green Environment is Our Goal," marking part of the Chattogram District Administration's initiative to plant one lakh trees in a single day, a 4,000-tree plantation program was inaugurated in Chandanaish upazila.

On Tuesday (October 27) morning, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Abdur Rahman formally inaugurated the program on the upazila parishad premises.

Attendees included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jhontu Bikash Chakma, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Ferdousi Akter, Agriculture Officer Md. Azad Hossain, Project Implementation Officer Md. Mahbub Alam Shawon Bhuiyan, alongside officials, staff from various departments, and students from different educational institutions.

According to organizers, following district administration guidelines, 4,000 saplings of timber, fruit-bearing, and medicinal species will be planted simultaneously across all government and private institutions, educational organizations, roadside tracts, and fallow lands in the upazila. Speakers noted that this initiative will play a vital role in preserving ecological balance and countering adverse climate change impacts.
