Maulana Mufti Nazrul Islam had dreamed of establishing a madrasa in his local area to spread the light of religious education, returning to his village home from his workplace in Dhaka about two months ago to fulfill that goal. However, before realizing his dream of founding the madrasa, the scholar lost his life while cutting down a tree.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday (October 24) around 8:30 AM at his residence in Rahimpur village under Sahapur Union of Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna. The deceased Mufti Nazrul Islam was the son of the late Abdul Hamid Sardar of the village.
According to local sources, Mufti Nazrul was working on plans to establish a madrasa at his home. On Saturday morning, while cutting a betuli tree on his property, he was severely injured after being crushed beneath it. Family members rescued him and rushed him to the Pabna General Hospital, where the on-duty physician declared him dead.
Mufti Nazrul Islam had long served as the Imam of the Palli Bidyut Samity Jame Masjid in Dhaka before returning to his village home two months ago, planning to permanently settle in Ishwardi after founding a local religious educational institution. Until his death, he served as the Khatib of the Rahimpur West Para Jame Masjid. His sudden demise has cast a shadow of deep grief over his family, relatives, local worshippers, and villagers, leaving his dream of building a madrasa unfulfilled.
