The district police have detained another 353 individuals in a special anti-adolescent gang drive in Cumilla. The synchronized raids were conducted simultaneously across various areas of 18 upazilas in the district from Sunday evening until late into the night. With this latest batch, a total of 2,649 people have been detained in ongoing anti-adolescent gang operations. The information was disclosed in a press release sent to media outlets by the district police on Monday morning (October 12, 2026).

According to district police, the operations were carried out as part of regular drives following instructions from Superintendent of Police Md. Anisuzzaman, targeting adolescent hangout spots and crime-prone areas across Cumilla city and other parts of the district. Various units of the district police, along with the Detective Branch (DB) and senior police officials, directly participated in the drive. Police stated that legal action is being taken after verifying the detainees' involvement in criminal activities.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin & Finance) Md. Lutfor Rahman stated that regular drives are being conducted to keep teenagers away from criminal activities, with strict monitoring to ensure that no innocent individuals are harassed. Anti-crime drives across the 18 police stations in Cumilla intensified following the tragic murder of schoolboy Oprotim by adolescent gang members on September 18. Out of the 2,649 individuals arrested so far, over 800 have been forwarded to court for various offenses.
