Attack and Vandalism at a Residence Stemming from a Long-standing Dispute; 200,000 Taka and Gold Ornaments Looted
Allegations have emerged regarding an attack on a home, vandalism, the looting of cash and gold ornaments, and the assault of a housewife in Hiranandpur village, Atgharia Upazila, stemming from a long-standing dispute.

In Hiranandpur village, located in the Atgharia Upazila of Pabna, allegations have emerged regarding an attack on a private residence, vandalism, the looting of cash and gold ornaments, and the assault of a housewife—all stemming from a long-standing dispute. In connection with this incident, Fazlul Haque (48)—who serves as the commander of the Ansar unit for Ekdanta Union—has filed a written complaint with the Atgharia Police Station, naming several individuals and an additional 10 to 12 unidentified persons.

According to the complaint, the incident took place on the night of October 23, at approximately 9:30 PM, at the residence of Fazlul Haque in Hiranandpur village, Ekdanta Union, Atgharia Upazila.

The complaint states that the accused individuals entered the property without authorization, armed with locally-made weapons. They reportedly broke down the doors to gain entry and proceeded to vandalize furniture, a computer, and various other items, including doors and windows.

The complainant, Fazlul Haque, alleges that during the incident, 200,000 Taka in cash, three bhoris of gold jewelry, two bhoris of silver jewelry, and a Nokia button-operated mobile phone (valued at approximately 2,200 Taka) were taken from the house. The complaint further notes that doors and windows in other rooms of the residence were also damaged.

Fazlul Haque claims that his wife was assaulted when she attempted to intervene during the attack. He further alleges that as the perpetrators were leaving, they threw several bombs and threatened his life.

Additionally, the complaint mentions that he received a phone call from the number 01302-953127, during which the caller demanded money and subjected him to verbal abuse using foul language. Fazlul Haque stated that he and his family members are now living in a state of insecurity following these events. Fazlul Haque stated, “Driven by a long-standing enmity, they attacked my home, causing extensive damage and looting. During the incident, my wife was also assaulted. They took cash, gold and silver ornaments, and mobile phones from the house.

I had previously filed a complaint with the police station regarding this matter. My family and I are currently living in a state of insecurity. I demand a thorough investigation into the incident, legal action against those involved, and the assurance of our safety.” Fazlul Haque mentioned that he had previously filed a written complaint against the same individuals at the Atgharia Police Station on September 29. He claims that he was admitted to the Atgharia Upazila Health Complex at that time and submitted the admission receipt, which he says he still possesses.

In his complaint, he has named several individuals—including Monirul Islam Babu, Akash, and Ruhul from Hiranandpur village—as witnesses. The complaint further states that many other local residents are also aware of the incident. Regarding the matter, Shafikuzzaman Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Atgharia Police Station, said, “We have received the complaint and are currently investigating. If the allegations are substantiated, legal action will be taken accordingly.”
