An attempt to forcibly seize the office of the Lions Club of Rangpur on Saturday evening (October 10, 2026) has triggered panic among teachers and students at the club-run Lions School and College amid ongoing 11th-grade admissions. According to eyewitnesses, a group of 40 to 50 outsiders forced their way through the institution's main gate around 5:00 PM, beating and injuring security in-charge retired Sergeant Golam Rabbani and guards Palash Chandra Das and Ashraful Islam when they resisted. The group then broke the lock of the 5th-floor club office, occupied it briefly, and placed their own lock before leaving. The current committee members subsequently retook control of the office. Police from Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control.

Lions School and College Acting Principal Enamul Haque Rosen expressed deep concern over the safety of staff and students during the crucial admission period. Lion Enamul Haque Sohel, former club president and governing body chief, alongside elected President Lion Manzil Murad Lavlu (2026–27 term), strongly condemned the incident, identifying the attackers via CCTV footage and alleging that a faction led by Farid Ahmed Rumi—who claims the presidency—has been attempting an illegal takeover. In contrast, Farid Ahmed Rumi maintained that he is the legitimately elected president and merely opened the office to members. Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station OC Nazmul Quader stated that police inspected the site, secured the premises, and will take legal action upon receiving a formal written complaint following an investigation.
