An audacious theft has once again hit the Ishwardi Municipal Crematorium in Pabna, where unidentified thieves cut and stole all the electrical wiring, plunging the entire cremation ground into darkness. The incident occurred during the deep hours of Sunday night (October 12, 2026). Crematorium authorities discovered the theft on Monday morning when they arrived to conduct daily rituals, finding the main power lines and internal wiring completely severed, which severely disrupted religious activities and prayer services.
Expressing deep frustration, committee members and local residents noted that this marks the 10th time theft and vandalism have occurred at the crematorium. Despite repeated incidents at the sensitive religious site, law enforcement agencies have failed to identify or apprehend the culprits, fueling growing anger and insecurity among the Hindu community and locals. Crematorium authorities and local residents have urgently demanded that the local administration track down the perpetrators and significantly bolster security measures at the site.
