In Rangpur's Thikatardpara, a dispute between two Hindu factions over the land ownership of a temporary temple led to road blockades, protests, and scuffles, preventing the immersion of the Durga idol even past the auspicious time on Bijoya Dashami.
The temple committee, led by district Awami Krishak League President Pran Krishna Goswami Prannu, attempted to establish a Kali temple instead of clearing the site, facing stiff resistance from land claimant Rita Rani Roy's faction who accused the committee of trying to seize private property using blank stamps.
Despite police and Puja Udjapan Parishad interventions, tensions escalated, leading the district administration to deploy up to three platoons of BGB overnight to maintain public order. While police and community leaders urge immediate immersion in line with court guidelines, the committee remains adamant, and the situation is closely monitored by law enforcement.
