BRTA Holds Road Safety Awareness Meeting in Savar
BRTA Holds Road Safety Awareness Meeting in Savar

Under the slogan "Safe Road, Prosperous Country, Bangladesh First," the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) organized an awareness discussion with students in Savar to prevent road accidents and increase public awareness.

The meeting was held on Sunday (October 11) at Shaheed Majnu Academy in Savar as part of BRTA's month-long campaign marking the upcoming National Safe Road Day 2026 on October 22. The event aimed to educate students and teachers on road safety, traffic regulations, and accident prevention strategies.

Organized by the BRTA Dhaka District Circle, the session was chaired by Md. Mofizur Rahman, Headmaster of Shaheed Majnu Academy. ABM Abu Bakkar Siddique, Accident Data Analyst at BRTA Headquarters, delivered the speech as the chief guest. Motor Vehicle Inspector of BRTA Savar Office Md. Jafar Hasan, Assistant Revenue Officer of Dhaka District Circle Md. Sohel Zaman, and Traffic Inspector Jakir Hossain attended as special guests.

Speakers emphasized that responsible behavior from drivers, passengers, and pedestrians is essential to reducing road accidents. Students were encouraged to use footpaths and designated pedestrian crossings safely, stay cautious while commuting, and follow traffic rules. The speakers also stressed the importance of driver responsibility, proper road design and management, and strict law enforcement.

They added that beyond law enforcement, personal awareness and mutual responsibility are vital to curbing accidents. Building a foundational understanding of traffic rules and road safety habits in students from an early age is crucial for creating safer roads. Organizers expressed confidence that BRTA's initiative ahead of National Safe Road Day will significantly boost road safety awareness among both teachers and students.
