
The burial of Shah Riyadh Anwar Shuvo, a notable historian, researcher, collector, and former student leader of Rangpur, was completed following his Janaza prayer after Zohr at the Rangpur Keramatia Jamia Mosque premises on Wednesday (October 7, 2026).
Fellow classmates, political comrades, social-cultural activists, and admirers attended the prayer, after which Bangladesh Jasad and other organizations placed floral wreaths before he was laid to rest at the Munshipara Central City Corporation graveyard.
Shuvo passed away at the age of 53 on Tuesday afternoon at his residence near the Circuit House after a long battle with a complex lung disease. Born on November 25, 1973, to language movement veteran and freedom fighter Advocate Shah Anwarul Haque Anu and former district education officer Umme Habiba Zakia Haque, he was widely recognized for his immense contributions to documenting Rangpur's history and liberation war, including his acclaimed 2023 book "Ronobhumir Rangpur."
His untimely demise has cast a shadow of profound grief across all strata of Rangpur's society.
