Kalapara Police Station in Patuakhali, where law enforcement is leading the investigation into infant Raiyan's disappearance.

A formal case has been filed over the sensational disappearance of a 10-month-old infant, Raiyan, who went missing while sleeping beside his father in their homestead in Kalapara Upazila, Patuakhali.

The child's mother, Rumana Begum, lodged the case at Kalapara Police Station naming her brother-in-law, Al-Amin (40), as the prime suspect alongside 3 to 4 unidentified accomplices. Earlier in the day, police successfully apprehended Al-Amin from Ghutabasa village in Nilganj Union.

According to case details, the incident occurred at dawn on Thursday in Ghutabasa village. Father Russell Khan was sleeping in the bedroom with infant Raiyan while his wife Rumana Begum was busy cleaning outside. At around 6:10 AM, Russell woke up and saw Al-Amin inside their bedroom before falling back asleep; shortly afterward, the infant vanished. Family sources reported a long-standing family dispute between Russell and Al-Amin, who had previously threatened to abduct the baby. Kalapara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam confirmed that the arrested suspect has been produced before the court while police continue an intensive search and investigation to recover the infant.
