In a major anti-sabotage operation, the Special Response Battalion (SRB) recovered an extensive cache of explosives—including 92 live cocktails (crude bombs), 12 kilograms of gunpowder, sharp weapons, and bomb-making equipment—hidden inside a mango orchard in Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila.
The raid was conducted at approximately 2:00 AM on Friday (October 16, 2026) by an operational team from SRB-5, CPC-1, Chapainawabganj, supported by the SRB-5 Rajshahi Bomb Disposal Unit, following precise covert intelligence. The seized stockpiles were retrieved in an abandoned state from an isolated mango grove in Purba Tikra village under Ward No. 2 of Maharajpur Union (No. 5).
Alongside the 92 crude bombs and 12 kg of gunpowder, law enforcement officers seized two sharp weapons (hasuas) and various raw materials used for assembling explosive devices. No suspects were present at the scene during the late-night sweep, precluding immediate arrests. SRB authorities stated that preliminary assessments suggest miscreants had stockpiled the weapons and explosives to orchestrate widespread sabotage and violent disruption across various parts of the country. All recovered explosives and weapons have been handed over to Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station for necessary legal proceedings and ongoing investigative drives.
