Valuables worth an estimated Tk 565,000—including Tk 335,000 in cash and two gold chains weighing approximately one bigh—were allegedly stolen from a residential house in the Dhuliari area of Kadamtala Union under Pirojpur Sadar Upazila while the homeowner's family was away attending funeral rites.

According to a written complaint lodged at Pirojpur Sadar Police Station by homeowner Md. Mizanur Rahman Khan (48) on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), his father passed away on the morning of October 5, prompting the family to lock their main residence and relocate temporarily to their ancestral home for funeral arrangements and customary rituals. Mizanur Rahman reported that upon returning to his home at around 2:00 PM on Wednesday to retrieve a bank check, he discovered the rooms ransacked and the back door wide open, after which a search conducted with neighbors confirmed that the cash stored in a steel almirah of the rear bedroom and the gold chains valued at Tk 230,000 were completely missing.

The victim expressed belief that unidentified thieves broke into the residence through the rear entrance sometime between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM on Wednesday. Pirojpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shariful Islam confirmed receipt of the complaint, stating that police are actively investigating the burglary and legal action will follow based on findings.
