A court in Alfadanga, Faridpur, acquitted two accused individuals of all charges in a false case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Concurrently, the complainant, Shahinur Begum, was sentenced to 15 days of imprisonment and fined 5,000 taka for filing a fabricated and fraudulent charge. In default of the fine, she faces an additional 7 days of rigorous imprisonment.

The verdict was delivered on Monday afternoon (October 26) by Shamima Parveen, Judge of the Faridpur Women and Children Repression Tribunal. The matter was confirmed by the tribunal's Public Prosecutor (PP), Advocate Golam Rabbani Bhuiyan Roton.

According to case documents and the verdict, Shahinur Begum had filed a case under Section 10 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on March 18, 2024, against Sagar Molla (22) and Ikramul Molla (20) of Jogibarati village in Alfadanga upazila. The plaintiff claimed in her statement that the accused had been teasing and sexually harassing her for a long time. She alleged that on the night of the incident, while returning home, the accused again assaulted her modesty.

However, following a prolonged judicial process and the presentation of testimonies and evidence, the court found no truth in the allegations and declared the accused innocent, acquitting them. Conversely, for wasting the court's valuable time and harassing innocent individuals through a false lawsuit, the plaintiff was handed this rigorous imprisonment and financial penalty.

Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, State Public Prosecutor Advocate Golam Rabbani Bhuiyan Roton stated, "The judge's decision serves as an exemplary deterrent against the misuse of law. This will ensure that no one dares to file false lawsuits in the future for malicious purposes or personal vendettas."
