Dr. S. K. A. Karim has issued a rebuttal regarding reports alleging that he misappropriated funds from a mosque. He responded to news items—published on October 16 across various online media outlets and Facebook pages—titled "Serious allegations against Dr. Karim, including the misappropriation of lakhs of taka from a mosque!"
In his statement, Dr. S. K. A. Karim asserts that the allegations leveled against him are baseless, untrue, and malicious. He notes that he currently resides in Barishal. He had been appointed as the president of a mosque located in his home village, with the consent of the local residents; however, he maintains that he was never involved in the mosque’s financial transactions or any money-related activities.
The rebuttal further points out that the reports accused him of misappropriating 12 to 13 lakh taka from the mosque without providing any concrete evidence. He argues that, in responsible journalism, such serious allegations should only be published after verifying the facts and obtaining his side of the story.
Dr. S. K. A. Karim states that the published reports have damaged his social standing, personal reputation, and honor. Consequently, he has urged the media outlets in question to properly verify the allegations, issue a correction or retraction, and publish his response.
Furthermore, Dr. S. K. A. Karim has indicated that he is prepared to pursue legal action, in accordance with the law, to protect his reputation and dignity.
