Dr. S.K.A. Karim has issued a rejoinder to a news report alleging that he misappropriated mosque funds, describing the allegations against him as baseless, false and motivated by malicious intent.

The objection concerns a report titled “Serious Allegations Against Dr. Karim, Including Embezzlement of Lakhs of Taka in Mosque Funds!”, published on October 16 in the online editions and Facebook pages of several media outlets.

In his rejoinder, Dr. Karim claimed that the allegations published against him were untrue and intended to damage his reputation.

He stated that he currently resides in Barishal and had been elected president of a mosque located in his ancestral village following the consent of local residents. However, he maintained that he had not been involved in the mosque’s financial transactions or money-related activities.

According to the rejoinder, reports accused him of misappropriating Tk 1.2 million to Tk 1.3 million from the mosque without presenting specific supporting evidence. Dr. Karim argued that responsible journalism requires media outlets to verify relevant information and seek comments from the person concerned before publishing such serious allegations.

He further claimed that the published reports had harmed his social standing, personal reputation and dignity.

In response, Dr. Karim called on the concerned media outlets to properly verify the allegations, make necessary corrections or withdraw the reports, and publish his version of events.

He also stated in the rejoinder that he may pursue legal action under applicable laws, if necessary, to protect his reputation and dignity.

The allegations and denials described in this report reflect the claims made in Dr. Karim’s rejoinder. Their independent verification was not provided in the statement.
