The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved two major projects worth over Tk 1,813 crore for the infrastructural development and repair of damaged roads in Rangpur city.
The approval was granted on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) during an ECNEC meeting chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat.
The approved allocations include Tk 1,602.79 crore for Rangpur City Corporation's infrastructure development and Tk 210.49 crore for the rehabilitation of damaged roads.
Following the announcement, Rangpur City Corporation officials, employees, and locals brought out a celebratory procession and distributed sweets to express gratitude to the Prime Minister.
Rangpur City Corporation Administrator Advocate Mahfuz Un-Nabi Chowdhury Don stated that these projects will play a vital role in transforming Rangpur into a modern, planned, and citizen-friendly city.
