Miscreants have hacked a expatriate's wife, Roksana Begum (40), to death with sharp weapons on the rooftop of her residence in Ashulia, Dhaka. Upon receiving the news, Ashulia Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to the morgue for an autopsy. Ashulia Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Noor Amin confirmed the recovery of the body on Thursday morning. The brutal murder took place on Wednesday night in the Uttar Kaltasuti Marichkata area under Shimulia Union in Ashulia.

The deceased, Roksana Begum, was the wife of Dubai expatriate Maqbul Hossain from Dakshin Pakulla village in Kaliakair Upazila, Gazipur. For the past two months, she had been living with her daughter Meem and son Alif on the third floor of their under-construction five-story building in Marichkata, Ashulia.

According to the victim's family, Roksana went to the rooftop around 7:30 PM on Wednesday to check the water tank. When she did not return after a long time, her relatives went to search for her and found her body lying partially unclothed on one side of the roof. Hearing their screams, neighbors rushed to the scene and informed the police.

Officers from Ashulia Police Station and the Detective Branch (DB) responded, recovering the body around 2:30 AM. The victim's brother, Md. Irak, stated that he had spoken to her on the phone around 7:00 PM and emphasized that she had no known enemies, demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.

Ashulia Police SI Noor Amin noted that the body bore several sharp weapon injury marks. Police have launched an investigation to identify the killers and determine the motive. A murder case is being filed at Ashulia Police Station, and operations are underway to arrest those involved.
