A tragic head-on collision between a bus and a sand-laden truck in Natore on Tuesday (October 20, 2026) left a bank official, Shahidul Islam, and his 9-year-old daughter, Tasfia, dead. Shahidul's wife, Rubina Begum, and their young son sustained critical injuries and are undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
The family was traveling from Magura to Rajshahi for the Puja holidays. Shahidul worked as a branch manager at BRAC Bank in Magura, while Rubina works at the Pubali Bank Subidkhali branch. According to police and family sources, the accident occurred around 4:15 AM when an RP Paribahan bus heading to Chapainawabganj collided with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction.
The collision resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, with district authorities and highway police swiftly responding to clear the route and manage rescue operations.
