Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called upon all quarters not to make the July 2024 mass uprising controversial, drawing parallels to how attempts to discredit the 1971 Liberation War were rejected by the people of Bangladesh.
Speaking as the chief guest during his visit to the Dharmasabha Radha Govinda Temple Puja Mandap in Rangpur on Tuesday afternoon (October 20, 2026), he emphasized that people from all religions, creeds, and professions had united on the streets to oust autocracy.
Highlighting that the current elected government aims to serve all citizens equally regardless of voting choices, he urged everyone to work together for the nation's future development. During the visit, the Prime Minister also announced a BDT 1 million grant for the temple's development. Prominent leaders including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, and local MPs accompanied him on his first official visit to Rangpur since taking office.
