Driven by prior enmity, miscreants trespassed into a banana orchard in Diar Baghoil area under Pakshi Union of Ishwardi Upazila, Pabna, on Thursday (October 8, 2026) afternoon and brutally beat and hacked security guard Naimul Islam Jinnah along with three members of his family.
Following the assault, police swiftly arrested the prime accused, Abdur Rob alias Abdullah (45), from Charsahapur Notun Hat Greencity area. The injured victims include security guard Naimul, his mother Nasima Begum (50), father Md. Saidul Islam Kha, and grandmother Mst. Zabeda Begum (70); while Naimul received treatment at Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, his critically injured parents were transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
According to the case statement, the attackers—identified as Abdur Rob, Shubhra (22), and Rimon (28)—ambushed Naimul, beat him with iron rods, and choked him, subsequently hacking Nasima Begum with a ramda and assaulting Saidul Islam and Zabeda Begum when they rushed to help, before fleeing the scene by firing blank pistol shots to create panic. Police noted that prime accused Abdur Rob, who was recently released on bail following his arrest in May for possessing an illegal one-shooter gun, cartridges, and yaba, has a history of criminal activities and allegedly runs a reign of terror through illegal drug and sand-soil trading.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ashadur Rahman confirmed that the main accused was apprehended within three hours of receiving the written complaint, and special drives are underway to capture the remaining suspects.
