Under the national banner "Where sight is limited, potential is limitless", Global White Cane Safety Day 2026 was commemorated with due solemnity and community participation in Pirojpur on Thursday (October 15, 2026).
The day's events were jointly organized by the Pirojpur District Administration, the District Social Services Office, and the Disability Service and Help Center. Festivities commenced in the morning with a public awareness rally originating from the Pirojpur Circuit House, which traversed key town roads before terminating at the District Commissioner’s office. A formal discussion session was subsequently convened at the DC office auditorium.
Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Golam Robbani attended as Chief Guest, delivering a call for compassionate treatment, unhindered accessibility, and social integration for visually impaired individuals. Highlighting state-led social safety net programs, he urged all citizens and civic organizations to extend support to ensure safe mobility and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. At the conclusion of the discussion, Smart White Canes were distributed among visually impaired women, children, and senior citizens. Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Rajat Subhra Sarkar, alongside representatives from voluntary social organizations, teachers, and disability rights activists, attended the program.
