Amidst various ups and downs, the 5th founding anniversary of Gono Odhikar Parishad was celebrated in Jashore with a firm commitment to building a new Bangladesh free of discrimination, ensuring people's voting rights, good governance, and a corruption-free state system.
The event was presided over by ABM Ashikur Rahman, President of the Jashore District Branch of Gono Odhikar Parishad. It was conducted by H.M. Ahsan Biplob, Chief Coordinator of the Jashore Municipal Branch.
Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, President of the Jashore District BNP, was present as the chief guest, while Ashik Iqbal, Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary of the Central Parliament of Gono Odhikar Parishad, attended as a special guest. Additionally, Jashore Press Club President Mr. Zahid Hasan Tukun and General Secretary Mr. Md. Nur Islam were present as invited guests.
Speakers at the rally and discussion meeting said that from the quota reform movement to the anti-discrimination student-mass uprising, Gono Odhikar Parishad has played an uncompromising role on the questions of rights, democracy, justice, and national interests in every important chapter of Bangladesh's history. Active in street struggles since its inception, the organization will continue to work unitedly in the future to establish the voting and fundamental rights of the masses.
Central Joint General Secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad Anisur Rahman Munna, along with other central and local leaders of various affiliated organizations, spoke at the event. Others who delivered speeches include Shahidul Islam Rubel, Chief Coordinator of Jashore Sadar Upazila Gono Odhikar Parishad; Md. Milon Sheikh, General Secretary of Jashore Jubo Odhikar Parishad; Md. Humayun Kabir Murad, President of Jashore Sromik Odhikar Parishad, along with General Secretary Md. Tareq Hossain; Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Kobita Khanon; and Senior Vice-President Md. Asadur Rahman Sunny, among others.
Following the discussion meeting, a cake-cutting ceremony and a joyful rally were organized to mark the anniversary. A large number of leaders, activists, and well-wishers from district, upazila, and various affiliated organizations were present at the event.
