Main News: A devastating fire broke out at a godown belonging to Amir Hardware and Electric on Sinaia Road in the Homna municipal area around 1:00 PM on Friday (October 9, 2026), reducing a vast quantity of goods—including plastic pipes, water tanks, electrical cables, and energy bulbs—to ashes and melting them under intense heat.
Two units of the Homna Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control after about an hour of frantic efforts. Following the incident, Member of Parliament for Cumilla-2 (Homna-Titas) and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education, Principal Md. Selim Bhuiyan, visited the site along with party leaders to inspect the damage, offer condolences to owner Md. Amir Hossain, and assure him of necessary administrative and legal support. The owner alleged that a malicious syndicate deliberately targeted his establishment, noting that a previous smaller fire had also occurred at the same spot.
