In a special anti-drug, counter-terrorism, and illegal arms recovery drive conducted by police in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna, 23 people were arrested along with the seizure of two one-shooter guns and four native weapons (hasua).

The operation took place in the early hours of Saturday (October 10, 2026) across various areas, including Dikkrir Char under Lakshmikunda union. Pabna Superintendent of Police Abu Ashraff detailed the operation at a press briefing at Ishwardi police station on Saturday afternoon, noting that over a hundred police personnel participated under the directives of the Rajshahi Range DIG and the supervision of the SP, led by Additional SP (Ishwardi Circle) Pranab Kumar, Ishwardi Police Station OC Asadur Rahman Asad, and other officials.

Among those arrested were 4 warrant-issuing accused, 1 regular case accused, and 18 individuals arrested on drug consumption charges. The recovered firearms were recorded at the station via General Diary (GD). The warrant and regular case accused were sent to court, while the 18 individuals arrested for drug consumption were presented before a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Ishwardi Assistant Commissioner (Land) Asaduzzaman Sarkar, which sentenced them to various terms of imprisonment and fines before sending them to Pabna District Jail. SP Abu Ashraff stated that such special operations to curb crime, recover illegal weapons, and control drugs will continue.
