A free blood testing camp and an awareness seminar were organized to raise public awareness and ensure healthcare services for the prevention of Hepatitis B in Sector 12 of the capital's Uttara. The program was jointly organized by the Uttara Sector 12 Welfare Society and Incepta Pharmaceuticals on Friday (October 23) at 6:30 PM at the sector auditorium.

Presided over by Sector Welfare Society President Sharif Shantu, the event was conducted by the society's Health and Environment Secretary Md. Khaledur Rahman, with a welcome speech delivered by General Secretary Delwar Hossain.

Organizers noted that Hepatitis B is a silent killer, as many infected individuals do not exhibit symptoms for a long time, making infections difficult to detect without testing. This initiative was undertaken to raise public awareness and encourage ordinary people to prevent the disease.

As part of the program, an awareness seminar featuring expert physicians discussed the symptoms, infection risks, prevention, and remedies of Hepatitis B. Additionally, over a hundred participants at the camp underwent free HBsAg screening tests. Organizers mentioned that while such tests typically cost at least 500 Taka at diagnostic centers, with vaccination costs ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 Taka, this camp arranged for Incepta Pharmaceuticals vaccines at a subsidized rate of only 555 Taka for individuals who tested negative.

The program provides for a four-dose vaccination schedule: the second dose after one month, the third after two months, and a booster dose after one year, with payments made per dose rather than in full upfront. To address the common issue of people forgetting their scheduled booster dates, Incepta's Health Aid will coordinate with registered individuals, and vaccination services will remain available at the Sector Welfare Society office.

Sector 12 Welfare Society Health and Environment Secretary Md. Khaledur Rahman said, "Hepatitis B is a silent killer. By being aware ourselves and protecting our families, we can build a healthy and disease-free Sector 12." Society General Secretary Delwar Hossain added, "This is a silent killer that remains undetected unless tested. Our initiative will succeed when everyone comes forward with awareness." In his closing remarks, President Sharif Shantu emphasized the convenience of the Health Aid service in preventing missed doses. The event was attended by Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nahida , Executive Member Md. Sujan Ali, Health Aid Managing Director Md. Babul Rahman, and residents from various walks of life.
