Hili Land Port Trade Suspended for 7 Days for Durga Puja; Resumes October 24
Hili Land Port in Dinajpur, where cross-border trade with India will remain closed for seven consecutive days due to Durga Puja.

Bilateral cross-border import and export activities through Dinajpur's Hili Land Port will remain completely suspended for seven consecutive days, including weekly holidays, on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja.

Commercial trade between Bangladesh and India will be paused for six days from Saturday, October 17 through Thursday, October 22, 2026, as per a joint decision taken by Indian export trade associations. Combined with the regular weekly holiday on Friday, October 23, all commercial freight movement across the land port will remain halted for seven straight days.

Port trade sources confirmed that the decision was formally communicated via official letter by the Hili Exporters and Customs Clearing Agents Association (India) to their Bangladeshi counterparts. Commercial operations, truck freight clearance, and port loading-unloading will fully resume on Saturday, October 24, 2026. However, officials confirmed that internal office work at the Hili Customs House and passport-holding passenger movement through the Hili Immigration Checkpost will continue uninterrupted throughout the holiday period.
