Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian Johnson soap worth approximately Tk 6.5 lakh during a drive along the border in Sreebordi Upazila of Sherpur.
On Sunday (September 27) at dawn, members of the Karnajhora border outpost of BGB conducted the drive in the Dumurtola border area under Singhabruna Union of the upazila. However, no smugglers could be detained in connection with the incident.
According to BGB sources, acting on a secret information around 6:00 AM on Sunday, a patrol team from the Karnajhora border outpost under the 39 BGB Mymensingh Battalion conducted a drive in the Dumurtola area. Sensing the presence of the BGB, smugglers fled, leaving behind cartons filled with Indian Johnson soap. Later, BGB members seized the cartons of Indian soap from the scene. The estimated market value of the seized soap is about Tk 6.5 lakh.
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nurul Azim Baoyezid, Captain of the 39 BGB Mymensingh Battalion, stated that BGB's operations to prevent smuggling along the border will continue.
