The Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex in Pabna, responsible for serving nearly 400,000 residents, is grappling with severe operational challenges including a acute shortage of physicians, suspension of cesarean surgeries for nearly a year due to the absence of an anesthesiologist, power outages, and critical shortages of dengue testing kits and IV fluids. To address these issues, a meeting of the Hospital Management Committee was convened on Tuesday afternoon (October 13, 2026).
The meeting was chaired by Professor Abu Taleb Mondal, Member of Parliament for Pabna-4 (Ishwardi-Atgharia) and President of the Management Committee, in the health complex conference room. Discussions focused on resolving immediate crises, including installing generators or IPS units for uninterrupted electricity, filling vacant consultant posts, resuming cesarean operations, deploying ECG technicians, securing adequate IV fluids, and improving ward sanitation and ceiling fan installations.
MP Abu Taleb Mondal instructed staff to eliminate middleman networks and pharmacy syndicates through mobile court drives, monitor surrounding private clinics, and ensure proper dietary standards for patients. Key speakers at the meeting included Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hasan Mohammad Shoaib, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Shovan Paul, Ishwardi Press Club President Abdul Mannan Tipu, and Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Kaberi Shah.
