Police have arrested a madrasa principal named Hossain Ahmed (55) in Naria, Shariatpur, following allegations of attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl under the pretext of traditional faith healing (kabiraji treatment). He was presented before the court on Tuesday (October 13, 2026), having been apprehended on Monday afternoon from the Shariatpur Pourashava area. The victim's mother filed a case at Naria Police Station regarding the incident.

According to the case statement and local sources, the teenager fell ill with abdominal pain on September 21. Her mother approached Hossain Ahmed for treatment. Under the guise of providing spiritual healing, the accused instructed the mother to return home to fetch oil and water. Taking advantage of her absence, he allegedly attempted to rape the minor. When the girl's mother and local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing commotion, the accused fled.

Naria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Anwar Hossain confirmed the arrest and stated that following the mother's formal complaint, police launched a drive, arrested Hossain Ahmed, and forwarded him to court on Tuesday for further legal proceedings.
