Md. Fakhrul Islam, Feni District Correspondent for Green Television, Dainik Destiny, and The Daily Best News, has been subjected to continuous death threats from an unknown mobile number and a suspicious Facebook profile. The ongoing harassment has left the media professional and human rights activist facing severe security risks.

According to the victim and local sources, following the publication of a news report concerning the Awami League on September 24, 2026, an individual identifying with the party called from an unknown number, hurled verbal abuse, and issued death threats against him and his family. In response, Fakhrul Islam filed a General Diary (GD No. 1250) at Daganbhuiyan Police Station on September 26.

Despite filing the GD, the threats persisted. Most recently, on Thursday (October 8), a Facebook account named "Fenir Crime" issued open death threats against him. Reports indicate that Fakhrul Islam has faced ongoing harassment due to his objective journalism in Feni, including three harassment lawsuits filed against him in the Feni Judge Court. The court has already acquitted him in one false case, while the remaining two are under investigation by the PBI and DB. Additionally, it was alleged that on June 30, police detained him for 15 hours without a warrant.

Speaking on the situation, Fakhrul Islam stated that he is simply trying to fulfill his duties as an objective journalist, but the series of false cases, continuous threats, and security concerns are hindering his independent work. Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fayzul Azim Noman mentioned that the threat call appears to have originated from an internet number, suggesting the culprit may be abroad, and the Facebook ID seems fake. He assured that police are actively investigating the GD to take necessary legal action. Local journalist communities have strongly condemned the threats and urged the administration to immediately identify the perpetrators and ensure the reporter's safety.
