On the occasion of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2026, Abutaleb Ivan Matubbar, Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) Team Leader of Nilganj Union in Kalapara upazila under Patuakhali district, was honored with the Presidential Medal and Certificate as the upazila's best volunteer. He received the medal and certificate from Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Asadul Habib Dulu on Tuesday (October 13, 2026) at 10:00 AM during a ceremony held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.

The prestigious recognition was awarded to him in honor of his outstanding contributions to safeguarding lives and property in coastal areas during natural disasters, as well as his dedicated humanitarian service. Apart from his volunteer work, Ivan Matubbar is a college lecturer, social worker, athlete, sports commentator, presenter, and motivational speaker. He has previously led several voluntary, religious, and sports organizations to foster community development, earning accolades as the best madrasa-level classroom teacher and best small-scale fish producer in the upazila.

Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the award, Ivan Matubbar stated, "This achievement does not belong to me alone. I dedicate this award to all the volunteers of Kalapara. In particular, I express my gratitude to Asaduzzaman Khan, Assistant Director of the Kalapara Upazila Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP), for his continuous encouragement and support, as well as all my CPP colleagues. I hope this recognition will further inspire my ongoing disaster response and social initiatives."
