Journalist Md. Golam Mia of Aditmari upazila, Lalmonirhat, has been acquitted by the court in a case filed against him. On Thursday (October 29), the court of Lalmonirhat District and Sessions Judge Md. Haider Ali delivered this verdict.

Journalist Md. Golam Mia has been serving as the former organizing secretary of Aditmari Press Club and as the three-time elected president of the Bangladesh Press Club, Aditmari upazila branch.

According to Golam Mia, during the tenure of the deposed Awami League government, law enforcement agencies and police filed a series of 11 fabricated cases against him in collusion with the then minister of social welfare. Out of these, the court has acquitted journalist Md. Golam Mia in all 11 cases, while the plaintiff in one of the cases has already served a two-month prison sentence for filing a false case.

Press Club President Journalist Golam Mia further stated that although charge sheets were submitted by the police and testimony was provided by the former police station official in the concerned case, the court acquitted him as the charges were not proven during the judicial process.

The consecutive acquittals of journalist Golam Mia from the cases filed against him are viewed as a significant chapter in his prolonged legal battle.
