As the month of Ashin comes to a close and autumn prepares to bid farewell, white kashful (catkins) continues to bloom across fields, drawing crowds in areas like Jalshiri sand field, Nagarpara Beel, and riverine chars in Rupsganj, Narayanganj.
Every afternoon, visitors gather beneath the white canopy for leisure, gossip, and photography, creating a festive atmosphere reminiscent of the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
Visitors of all ages, including expatriates like Akhi Akhter and long-time enthusiasts like Mehedi Hasan, shared their joy of visiting the kashaban to refresh their minds away from mechanical city life, though some noted that urban housing expansion is threatening these natural landscapes.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Afroza Khanam noted that kashful also possesses medicinal properties, such as aiding in gallstone treatment and body odor reduction when using its roots.
