In a strong display of community outrage, people from all walks of life gathered at the Istarghat market on Thursday afternoon (October 22, 2026) to stage a massive human chain program, demanding the immediate cessation and permanent closure of alleged drug trafficking, gambling, and immoral activities at the Dhankura Resort located in the Dakatia Union of Bhaluka Upazila, Mymensingh.
Protesters and local leaders expressed deep concern that an unscrupulous syndicate has been operating illegal activities within the resort for a long time, putting the younger generation at severe risk and disrupting the peaceful daily lives of local residents. Warning that such destructive behavior will not be tolerated, the angry residents urgently called for administrative intervention, threatening to launch stricter and broader agitations if the resort is not permanently sealed.
The protest was addressed by several prominent local figures, including Advocate Mohammad Antor, Selim Akond, Maulana Mamunur Rashid, Maulana Anwar Hossain, Maulana Shafiuddin, Mahbub Alam, Zakir Hossain Master, Billal Hossain, and Hridoy Talukdar. The report was filed by Moksedur Rahman Mamun, Upazila Correspondent for Bhaluka, Mymensingh.
