Chittagong-14 (Chandanaish-Satkania partial) Member of Parliament Alhajj Jasim Uddin Ahmed has issued a strict ultimatum to clear illegally occupied footpaths along the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway, spanning from Gachbaria Old College Gate to Khanhat in Chandanaish.

While inspecting the highway section on Tuesday night (October 13, 2026) for the second time, MP Jasim warned traders to remove all goods from the footpaths by Wednesday. He stated that if the illegal encroachments are not cleared voluntarily within the deadline, an eviction drive will be conducted through the upazila administration on Thursday.

Emphasizing the need to ensure smooth traffic flow, the MP declared that no CNG-autorickshaw stands will be allowed on the highway, and no shop materials may be placed on public footpaths. He also directed authorities to deploy traffic police at key congestion points, including College Gate and Khanhat. Officers from the upazila administration, Chandanaish Police Station, local public representatives, and political leaders accompanied him during the inspection.
