New initiatives aimed at promoting local tourism and enhancing public recreational facilities have been introduced in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj district, with the inauguration of a map square and the Padmabati Point at Padmabati Recreation Centre.
Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi inaugurated the two facilities on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during an official visit to Louhajang upazila.
The map square has been established on the premises of the Louhajang Upazila Complex, while Padmabati Point is located at Padmabati Recreation Centre in Ghorodour Bazar, within Louhajang-Teotia Union. The recreation centre was developed through an initiative of the upazila administration, with improvements aimed at enhancing its beauty and expanding recreational opportunities for visitors.
Speaking at the inauguration, Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi said the initiatives would contribute to improving the area's aesthetic environment, promoting local heritage and developing attractive recreational destinations for the public.
She also expressed hope that the map square at the upazila complex would highlight Louhajang's geographical identity and local heritage while increasing public awareness of the upazila among visitors.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Sharif Ullah, Louhajang Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Bobby Mitu, and officials from various government departments attended the inauguration ceremony.
The initiatives are expected to add a new dimension to local tourism and provide residents and visitors with more opportunities to explore the area's identity and attractions.
