In an alarming incident at Assort Hospital in the Shalgaria area of Pabna town, a woman named Aleya Khatun (45) was brutally beaten and robbed of her gold ornaments and mobile phone by an unidentified assailant posing as a hospital ward boy. The incident took place on Sunday evening (October 18, 2026) on the fourth floor of the hospital.

According to the complaint filed at Pabna Sadar Police Station by the victim's son, Md. Ador Sheikh—a resident of Raipur village in Sujanagar upazila—his pregnant sister Mafia Khatun (30) was admitted to Cabin 316 of the hospital on October 17. The following evening, a man posing as a ward boy summoned Aleya Khatun out under the pretext of showing test reports. He lured her into an abandoned room on the fourth floor, snatched a gold chain weighing approximately 1 bhori (valued around Tk 2 lakh) and an Oppo A-54 mobile phone (valued at Tk 20,000), and struck her repeatedly on the head with an iron rod when she resisted, causing severe head injuries and profuse bleeding.

The assailant fled as other patients and relatives rushed to the scene after hearing the victim's cries. Assort Hospital General Manager Jalal Uddin stated that hospital staff were not involved and urged police to take action against the culprits. Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam confirmed that a written complaint has been received and legal processes, including analyzing CCTV footage, are underway to arrest the perpetrator.
