Saudi expatriate Md. Jassim Hawlader has alleged that he is facing severe obstructions in constructing a new house on his family's old homestead in Karuna village of Betagi upazila, Barguna, leaving him in a state of distress. Jassim, the only son of the late Hakim Hawlader, returned to the country this year to rebuild a home on his ancestral property, but his uncle, Abdul Jalil Hawlader, has allegedly raised strong objections, halting construction and forcing Jassim to pay hired masons for sitting idle without support from nearby relatives.
While local arbitration sessions held multiple times failed to resolve the long-standing land dispute between the two parties, the accused uncle Abdul Jalil Hawlader stated that he has filed a case under sections 144/145 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in court because his rightful land was not handed over to him.
Meanwhile, local residents noted that the dispute has persisted over property ownership and boundaries, with community members expressing hope that the ongoing legal proceedings and careful verification of documents will bring a lawful resolution to the tension.
