Saudi Expat's Land Attacked and Ransacked in Chandanaish In Defiance of Court Order
A copy of the written complaint filed with police regarding the illegal land grab attempt, attack, and robbery on Saudi expat property in Chandanaish.

An influential land-grabbing gang in Chandanaish upazila of Chattogram has been accused of attempting to forcibly occupy land, launching an attack, and committing robbery at night on property legally purchased by Saudi expatriates, openly defying a court injunction under Section 145.

According to Md. Badiul Alam (55), elder brother of victim expatriates Md. Selim Uddin and Mohammad Yousuf Ali, the brothers legally purchased 14 decimals of arable land under B.S. Khatian No. 1186, Plot No. 3365 in Kanchan Nagar Mouza via registered deed (No. 1833, dated June 12, 2024) and had been peacefully occupying it. Taking advantage of their absence abroad, an identified land-grabbing syndicate had been plotting to seize the property for a long time.

On the night of October 22 at around 11:00 PM, a group of 7-8 armed assailants led by defendants Prabhat Sheel (65) and Md. Alam (35) arrived at the site with a dump truck equipped with sharp weapons, iron rods, and sticks, and began illegally filling the land with soil. When the expatriates' elder brother Md. Badiul Alam, relative Nurul Islam, and his nephew arrived to protest, the attackers launched a brutal physical assault, leaving them injured. During the altercation, the assailants looted an expensive Android smartphone, 30,000 BDT in cash, and issued public death threats, threatening to bury them in the plot.

The victims added that following lawsuit No. 851/2026 over the property dispute, the learned court had issued an order under Section 145 on October 8 directing both parties to maintain peace and status quo. Although Chandanaish Police Station served notices to both sides, the accused disregarded the law and proceeded with their illegal land-grabbing attempt.

The helpless expatriate family is currently suffering from extreme insecurity. They have sought urgent intervention from the administration to bring the land grabbers to justice and protect their legal property rights.

When contacted, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandanaish Police Station confirmed receiving a written complaint and stated that stern legal action will be taken against the perpetrators following an investigation.
