In Pirganj, Thakurgaon, allegations have surfaced that a first husband and his associates physically assaulted a second husband, forced a garland of shoes around his neck, recorded a video of the incident, and circulated it widely on Facebook to take revenge for a divorce.
Kamrun Akter, wife of the victimized second husband Taibor Rahman, made these claims during a press conference held on Sunday afternoon at the Pirganj Press Club.
According to Kamrun’s statement, she was previously married to Anarul of Potuapara village, with whom she had two sons. Due to persistent marital discord, Kamrun divorced Anarul 7 to 8 months ago. Around five months ago, she married Taibor Rahman, an assistant teacher at Nakati Shaheed Abdul Jabbar High School, and began living with him, taking her elder son Kawsar (13) along, while her younger son Abdullah (6) remained with her former husband.
On Saturday evening, Kamrun, along with her husband Taibor and elder son Kawsar, went on a motorcycle to Anarul’s house in Potuapara to visit her younger son, Abdullah. At that time, Anarul and his associates intercepted Kamrun and Taibor, snatched their motorcycle and mobile phones, and beat them. They fabricated a false claim that "Taibor had been caught with a woman," forced a shoe garland around his neck, and recorded the episode on mobile phones. Upon receiving information, police rescued them from the scene and took them to the upazila health complex. Later, the video was uploaded to Facebook, where it went viral.

Asserting that her former husband engineered this retaliation solely due to the divorce, she demanded the recovery of their motorcycle and mobile phones alongside strict legal action against the perpetrators.
The press conference was attended by Kamrun’s mother Bilkis Begum, brother Titu, husband Taibor, Taibor’s sister Sultana, Sultana’s husband Kobad Ali, other family members, and local print and electronic media journalists.
Commenting on the matter, Pirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Hossain Pramanik stated, "Upon receiving information, we promptly rescued them. Legal assistance will be provided if they seek formal support. However, no written complaint has been filed with the police station as of yet."
