The Upazila Secondary Education Office has issued a show-cause notice to the headmaster of Gurjipara Girls' High School in Pirganj upazila, Rangpur, over allegations of low student attendance, locked school entrance, declining quality of education, and neglect of duty. The educational authority initiated the administrative measure after reports published across several media outlets drew their attention to the situation.
According to sources at the Upazila Secondary Education Office, the notice (Memo No: UMASEAO/Peer/Rang/Invest/2026/928) was issued to the headmaster on November 3, 2026, bearing the signature of Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdur Rahman.
The show-cause notice stated that when journalists from various print and electronic media outlets conducted an on-site visit to the school last week, they found the main entrance locked. At the time of the visit, only six students were present on the campus. The notice also highlighted an instance of discourteous behavior by a school teacher toward the visiting journalists.

Instead, student enrollment and attendance have steadily declined. Despite repeated warnings issued by the District Education Officer, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), and Upazila Secondary Education Office, the headmaster failed to take effective corrective steps.
In addition, allegations regarding the headmaster's irregular attendance at the school were cited in the notice. Terming these actions as severe neglect of duty and negligence, the authority instructed the headmaster to submit a written explanation within three working days as to why administrative action should not be initiated against him under relevant rules.
The notice warned that if the headmaster fails to provide a satisfactory response within the stipulated timeframe, it will be presumed that he has no defense, and subsequent legal and disciplinary actions will be processed accordingly.
