A 22-year-old speech-impaired young woman was allegedly raped by a local youth in Srikrishnapur village under Fulbari upazila, Dinajpur, on Sunday noon (October 4, 2026). According to the victim's mother, Mukta Banu, the accused, Shariful Islam (28), son of the late Abtar Hossain, lured the victim inside a room while they were working at a nearby house and threatened her with death before committing the assault. Locals detained Shariful after the victim gestured about the incident to her mother and handed him over to the police. Fulbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam confirmed that a rape case has been filed, medical and legal procedures for the victim are underway, and the accused was sent to jail on Monday afternoon (October 5, 2026).
