Jhenaidah Correspondent: Allegations of irregularities and corruption involving low-quality brick usage have surfaced in the curve-straightening project of the Sheikhpara-Langolbadh road in Shailkupa Upazila, Jhenaidah, implemented with a budget of 12 crore taka. Investigations reveal that land has been acquired and structures cleared across Kathandpara, Paikpara, Kushbaria, and other locations under the Jhenaidah Roads and Highways Department project, with construction materials being prepared near Fazilpur Mahila College.

Anonymous locals reported that while project estimates require first-class bricks and brick chips for bed and edging works, substandard "TOP10" grade 2 and 3 bricks are openly being utilized without departmental oversight.

Residents expressed grave concern over the potential waste of public funds and premature road degradation, demanding immediate investigation and verification by higher authorities.

Executive Engineer Tuhin Al Mamun of the Jhenaidah Roads and Highways Department stated that contractor firm 'Messrs Moinuddin Basis' is executing the project by June next year, emphasizing that low-quality materials are strictly prohibited, all inputs undergo laboratory testing, and complaints will be investigated with appropriate actions taken.
